Jeff's Bio

I’ve always loved listening to the radio. I was one of those kids who would listen to a crackly Radio Luxembourg on a small transistor radio late into the night. I was in the first intake of students to join Dundee College’s new HNC Radio Broadcasting course in 1990. We were based at Radio Tay in Dundee and trained on analogue broadcast studio equipment. In those days editing involved a reel of tape, a razor blade and a roll of sticky plastic! I went on to work for Tayside Regional council as a producer and trainer of community based Radio programmes, working with community groups across Dundee, Perthshire and Angus. At the same time I was also working as a freelance producer and broadcaster for other Campus Radio programmes that were broadcast across Tayside. I presented a live easy listening music based Sunday breakfast show for Radio Tay in 1993. In 1994 I moved to Heartland FM in Pitlochry and spent a few months there working as the station administrator. I also broadcast weekly programmes on Hospital Radio Perth until 1998 when I moved to the Musselburgh area. I’ve spent the last 20 years working in tourism operations and I’m really excited to be back in a radio studio again. I’ve appreciated all the support and encouragement I’ve received from everyone I’ve met at East Coast FM. I love listening to the shows on ECFM. I’m a big fan of music from the 80’s and when it’s possible I love going to live gigs.
