Having attended the press conference for this back in December last year, the show seemed to be rather big even then – and I can see why!
Robin Cousins says that this show will ‘redefine ice skating for a new generation’ and I for one won’t argue with him! Indeed it bears little resemblance to TV show Dancing on Ice – yes there’s the mix of lively and slow numbers too – but this takes it to a whole new level.
All of the skaters who performed during the show are young, but have all done some form of ice skating to a high standard, which showed during the performance. They all knew what they were doing, the choreography was timed to perfection, the lifts were utterly superb – and the music was perfect for each and every dance!
Special mention goes to the gentleman who was able to dance, spin and sing all at the same time – he made it look so effortless – who says men can’t multi task! The skating during the show was that good, it was magical.
The only thing I would say is that I would have liked the routines to be just a wee bit longer – but apart from that the show was absolutely wonderful.
I did wonder how they were going to build an actual ice rink on the stage of the theatre – but it was achieved successfully so I take my hat off to them all! As I said above a fabulous show, if you do get the
chance do go and see it I would, as it runs for a limited time only, but it’s a show not to be missed.
